What Do Animals Talk About in Psychic and Mediumship Readings?

One of the questions people sometimes have before an animal psychic or mediumship reading is a simple one: What will my animal actually talk about?

The answer is: All kinds of things.

Animals have personalities, preferences, relationships, memories, and experiences of their own. And much like people. what seems important enough to communicate varies from one animal to another.

Sometimes what comes through is deeply emotional. Sometimes it’s funny. Sometimes it’s incredibly ordinary. And often, those ordinary details are the ones that mean the most.

Memories and Experiences You Shared

animals who have passed often bring up specific experiences from their lives with their people. They may reference a particular home, trip, routine, person, place, toy, activity, or moment they remember sharing with you. Sometimes these are major memories. Other times they’re tiny moments you might never expect them to mention. Those details can be especially meaningful in mediumship readings because they speak to the life you actually shared—not simply the fact that you loved one another.

Things They Loved Doing

Both living and deceased animals may communicate about experiences they particularly enjoyed. A dog might bring up riding in the car, hiking, swimming, sleeping in a particular spot, visiting a favorite person, or the route you used to walk together. A horse might communicate about trail rides, certain pasture companions, particular activities, or simply being somewhere they felt at peace.

And sometimes their favorite things aren’t nearly that glamorous. It might be a particular blanket, lying in a specific patch of sunlight, stealing food, watching out a certain window, or sleeping in your bed. Animals can have very definite opinions about what makes life good.

Their Likes—and Their Dislikes

Readings with living animals can also be a chance to learn more about an animal’s preferences. They may communicate about food, activities, other animals, people, environments, routines, equipment, sleeping arrangements, or things happening around the home.

And yes, sometimes they have complaints,

One animal may love something another animal can’t stand. They can have preferences and quirks that are uniquely their own, and hearing those can offer another window into who they are.

How They Experience You

One of my favorite parts of animal communication is hearing animals describe their people. Animals may communicate what they love about you, how they experience your relationship, what they appreciate about the life you’ve given them, or what they enjoy doing with you.

With animals who have passed, this can be especially moving, Grief has a way of making us revisit everything: Did they know how much I loved them? Were they happy? Did I do enough?

What comes through isn’t always a dramatic declaration. Sometimes love shows up through the memories they choose, the routines they remember, and the simple pleasure they took in being part of your life.

Their relationships with other animals

Animals may also talk about the other animals in their lives. They communicate affection, attachment, jealousy, irritation, companionship, or grief surrounding another animal. They may describe who they liked spending time with—or who they merely tolerated.

For living animals, this can sometimes shed light on dynamics within a multi-animal household. In mediumship readings, an animal who has passed may reference another animal they lived with or acknowledge changes that happened within the family after their passing.

What’s happening in their world now

Living animals may communicate about changes in their environment or routine: a move, a new animal or person in the home, someone being away more often, or something else that has affected their day-to-day experience. Sometimes people come to an animal reading because there’s a specific behavior or situation they're curious about. Communication can offer the animal’s perspective on what’s happening, although it shouldn’t replace veterinary care or qualified behavioral help when those are needed.

What can you ask during a living-animal psychic reading?

You don’t necessarily need to arrive with a list of questions. I like to leave room for the animal to communicate whatever seems important to them, too. But if there are things you’ve always wondered about, a reading is a wonderful opportunity to ask.

Some questions you might want to explore include:

  • What are you favorite things we do together?

  • Is there anything you’d like to do more often?

  • Is there anything you wish we did less?

  • How do you feel about your daily routine?

  • What are your favorite foods, toys, places, or activities?

  • How do you feel about the other animals in the household?

  • Is there anyone—human or animal—you feel particularly close to?

  • How did you feel about a recent move, trip, new family member, or other change?

  • Is there something I do that you especially love?

  • Is there anything you wish I understood about you?

  • What makes you the happiest?

  • Is there something you’ve been trying to communicate with me?

  • Is there anything you’d like me to know about our relationship?

And you can absolutely ask questions that feel silly too! Does my dog actually like the ridiculous sweater I put on her? Does my cat understand why I keep moving her off my pillow? Does my horse enjoy what we’re doing together, or would he rather be doing something else? Sometimes those seemingly small questions lead to the most distinctive—and entertaining—parts of a reading.

The goal isn’t necessarily always to solve a problem. You don’t need to wait until something is wrong to communicate with your animal. Sometimes the reason for a reading is simply: I’d love to know more about this being I share my life with.

And Sometimes—Something Completely Unexpected

This may be the most interesting part. You can come into a reading with ten questions and discover that your animal has an eleventh topic they would very much like to discuss.

Animals don’t necessarily prioritize the things we expect them to. Something seemingly insignificant to us may have been enormously enjoyable or meaningful to them. That’s part of why I don’t think of animal communication as simply asking an animal a list of questions. It’s also an opportunity to give them some room to communicate what’s important to Them.

Whether I’m connecting psychically with a living animal or through mediumship with an animal who has passed, what often comes through most clearly is their individuality. They’re not simply “a dog”, “a cat”, or “A horse”. They’re your dog who adored that funny stuffed toy. Your cat who had strong opinions on where you were allowed to sit. Your horse who loved one particular trail. The animal who knew your routines, shared your home and your experiences, and developed a relationship with you that belonged to just the two of you.

And very often, that’s exactly what they want to talk about.
